From dirt to dive in 5–7 weeks.
A pool is a big project — but it doesn't have to take all summer. Here's exactly what happens in your yard, week by week, from the first scoop of dirt to your first swim.
Your build, week by week
Week 1Excavation
We mark the design, then a crew and compact excavator shape the hole. Most digs finish in a day or two — by the end of the week your pool already has its form.
Week 2Steel & plumbing
A steel rebar cage is tied inside the shell and the plumbing is run and pressure-tested. This is the engineering that makes a pool last decades.
Week 3Shotcrete shell
Crews spray shotcrete to form the walls, floor, steps and any Baja shelf or spa. After it's shaped, the shell cures into the solid structure of your pool.
Weeks 4–5Tile, coping & finish
Waterline tile and coping go in, equipment is set, and your genuine Pebble Tec interior is applied. This is where the bare shell turns into a finished pool.
SwimmingFill & first swim
We fill the pool, balance the water, and walk you through your new equipment. Then it's yours — LED nights, Baja-shelf mornings, and every weekend in between.
Why NEXA builds faster
Custom pools drag on for months because every detail is redrawn from scratch. NEXA pools are five proven designs with the engineering already done — so the crew moves straight to building. You still get genuine Pebble Tec, LED, automation and a Baja shelf; you just get them sooner.
What can change the timeline
Most builds run 5–7 weeks. Weather, permits, inspections and add-ons can shift the schedule a little either way — your real timeline is confirmed at your free design review.
Build questions
How long does it take to build a pool?
A NEXA pool typically takes 5–7 weeks from excavation to your first swim. Custom pools often take several months — our designs are pre-engineered, so the crew can move straight to building.
What are the stages of pool construction?
Excavation, steel and plumbing, shotcrete shell, tile and coping with the Pebble Tec finish, then fill and start-up. We walk your yard at every milestone.
How disruptive is the build to my yard?
The heaviest work — digging and shotcrete — is concentrated in the first few weeks. We keep the site organized and protect access. Most of your yard stays usable throughout.
Can I really swim in 5–7 weeks?
That's the average for a NEXA build. Weather, permits and inspections can move it slightly. Your confirmed schedule is set at your free design review.
Is the finish really genuine Pebble Tec?
Yes — genuine Pebble Tec is the standard interior on every NEXA pool, not an upcharge. It's the same premium finish used on luxury custom builds.
